Responding to the ever-increasing amount of self-indulgent art now cluttering the globe, THE INK JETTY offers an injection of puritanical rigour to the business of creating better art for today. Rather than showcasing each artist’s idiosyncratic formal tastes and talents, THE INK JETTY asks each artist to put aside their ego to explore the opportunity of working towards a common standard and shared format – oversized digital colour output. Leaving their trademark styles behind on the mainland, the artists gathered on THE INK JETTY consider the blank sheet in front of them; the ubiquitous surface of our post-modern culture. Rather than submitting to the bland conformity of the lifestyle press or the indifference of the narcissistic art voyeur, THE INK JETTY offers a boundless horizon of possibilities for the present - a poster for every street corner. By doing so, each artist, employing the aesthetic of the high street colour bureau, proceeds towards the ambition of collective power through individual artistic vision.
